Numerous pleas have been made by both the WHO and the UN since October 8th, for a ceasefire between Hamass and Israeli and the warning that in not doing so a human catastrophe will be caused to the civilians in Gaza.
UN Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said that this was the first time Mr. Guterres had felt compelled to invoke Chapter 99, since taking office in 2017. Article 99 says: The Secretary-General may bring to the attention of the Security Council any matter which in his opinion may threaten the maintenance of international peace and security. Meanwhile, the UK Government and the Labour Party remain supportive of Israeli actions in Gaza. But the International community views their actions as being those of inhumanity and immorality and the act of genocide being perpetrated upon the women and children in Gaza by the use of tactics perfected by the Nazis: starvation, crushing vast numbers of civilians into smaller and smaller spaces, the withholding of food, medicine, and sanitary facilities thereby causing major diseases such as typhoid and dysentery; and the demolition of all humans need to survive. All well prepared via the indiscriminate bombing of civilian houses, apartments, hospitals and indeed of food aid and refugee camps as well as the destruction of Gaza's sanitary and health infrastructure. In the Occupied West Bank, civilians are arrested, killed, and their homes blown up by the Israeli Defence Force and roads bulldozed, and the looting of Palestinian homes too is taking place. He is also a Solidarity medical worker, Researcher, Teacher, and a Longtime volunteer for Palestinian healthcare. Interviewed several time by Channel 4 News, this plea by him to the World to stop the slaughter of women and children and men who are innocent of any attacks on Israel and not responsible for the inhumanity of Hamass and the Israeli Government. There are consequences of supporting Governments and giving free reign to any one power to ignore the internationally agreed legislature which protects civilians in times of war ever since the ending of the Second World War. It is time people woke up to the reality of the crimes being committed and to take action to demand the end of atrocities committed by Governments and armed organisations irrespective of which nation and Government committing them!"
